New investment for Gloucester's leading printers

new investment at Alpha ColourGloucester print specialists Alpha Colour Printers have opened a new facility in the city.

Work on the family firm’s new 10,000 sq. ft. storage and distribution facility behind its existing premises on Waterwells Business Park has finished and it is now open for business, creating more jobs in Gloucester, boosting Alpha Colour Printers’ fortunes and the economy of the local area.

The huge new depot can hold a total of 3,200 pallets and increases Alpha’s total floor area to 23,000 sq. ft.

Alpha Colour Printers was founded by Jeff Williams, who started the printing firm in his father’s garage 26 years ago, “It has been very exciting to watch the company expand in the way it has, and the new distribution facility will enable us to offer our customers an even higher level of service.”

The new building took 6 months to construct, and at a cost of around £600,000 will enable Alpha Colour Printers to offer its customers an easily accessible environment in which to store a huge volume of printed materials.

With storage space now at a premium in many office buildings, Alpha’s service is invaluable to many of its clients.

“We work with a number of organisations and companies that require high volume printing but do not necessarily have room to store everything that they need: schools, hospitals, local authorities and firms in office blocks,” continues Jeff. “The new facility will allow us to hold it for them and distribute it when they need it.”

Alpha has employed five new people in order to run the new depot, adding to the company’s loyal staff roster, many of whom are family members of the directors Jeff Williams and Dave Butt.

Dave adds, “Running a business like ours is a team effort - everybody has an important role to play and by maintaining our excellent reputation for high quality print and an unrivalled service, we can continue to grow our company, invest in the local economy and offer the best to our customers.”

The storage and distribution facility is just another part in Alpha’s £2-million investment scheme, which includes the recent purchase of a new Heidelberg print press, a state-of-the-art machine that can print on both sides and turn out 15,000 sheets per hour.

Alpha Colour Printers is on of the South West’s biggest printing firms, with its excellent reputation in Gloucester and across the UK winning them some huge clients, including regional and international blue chip companies and government organisations, using Alpha to print their brochures, leaflets, posters, stationery, full-colour vinyl printing and outdoor & exhibition signage.

Founded 26 years ago in the centre of Gloucester, the company has seen exceptional growth, settling into its current purpose-built Quedgeley site in 2001.

“Our current site in Waterwells Business Park enables us to be more efficient than ever before - it’s important to keep up with technology, invest in high quality, purpose-built buildings and continually strive to improve and refine the operation,” says Jeff. “We never rest on our laurels.”
