Alpha Colour is committed to minimising the environmental impact of our work and in October 2006 we attained ISO 9001 Quality Accreditation and ISO14001 Environmental Accreditation in recognition of our efforts.
• ISO 9001:2000 is the internationally recognised standard for an organisation’s internal quality management system and indicates a consistent ability to provide product that meets customer and applicable regulatory requirements. Certification also ensures an ongoing monitoring and improvement of internal controls. Within the printing industry, certification is increasingly a pre-requisite for many tenders and in achieving ‘preferred supplier’ status.
• ISO 14001 is the world’s most recognised Environmental Management System framework designed to help firms both to manage the impact of their activities on environment and to demonstrate this environmental management. This standard ensures organisations’ continuous awareness of and improvements in environmental performance, both in-house and also in the activities of suppliers.
The importance of protecting the environment underlies all our work and we continually invest in our machinery and review our processes to ensure they are as environmentally conscious as possible. All our staff are committed to improving environmental performance and work to environmental objectives and targets which are regularly monitored and reviewed.
We offer our customers environmentally-friendly vegetable-based inks as well as a wide range of recycled paper stocks and aim to minimise packaging and waste whilst recycling as much as possible. We have substantially reduced our platemaking waste through the use of Computer to Plate technology and our Heidelberg presses generate virtually no ink waste. The on-press make-ready technology has also advanced considerably in the last 2-3 years resulting in far less paper waste than similar companies operating older presses.
